Chapter 2 : Truck From Nepal

It was 9 pm. Varun left Sri Lanka yesterday night and was now in Jaisalmer. OP Sharma was also there. The room was in a safe house on the outskirts of the city.
"it is really important and since you have the most knowledge about bioweapon, I have chosen you to be here." OP Sharm said

"what happened ?" Varun asked

"We found a truck left abandoned last week some 50 km from here, it seemed like an ordinary drug caught at first but the police officer found steel capsules inside. It seemed to contain some kind of reserve in the shape of a tube with anthrax but that’s not the concern. only yesterday the final report came other that anthrax it also had reserves of Ebola and  Marburg"

"hmm. Soviet Union created bioweapons for them." Varun replied

"Yes. It seems that the technology survived the collapse of the USSR, we also found reserves of HIV in it."

"But USSR was never able to weaponize 
HIV" Varun said

"Yes, but it could happen that they or someone else was successful in it."

"that is a big speculation to make sir"

"We should take no risk even the Prime Minister hasn't been told yet. after an investigation by local police, it was found that this truck came from Nepal. the truck driver was found dead inside and the locks of boxes containing these reserve tubes broken. we suspect that few tubes were stolen."

"the amount as big as this is enough to start a BioWare! why don't we consult the international bodies ?" 

"It is a big issue, the PM will be informed tomorrow morning I have an appointment with him till them I want you to get in touch with local police. I'm sure it must not be Nepali government's work they aren't advanced enough to develop bioweapons"

"so could Chinese be involved in it after all they are suspected even by the CIA?" Varun asked

"It is possible" Op  Sharma replied and took out a cigarette, started smoking it and got up and started looking outside the window.

"It could be the beginning of something big," he said

It was almost 11 pm now and both of them left for their hotel.

in the morning Varun had a meeting with DIG and tried calling Rajan multiple times but he didn't pick his call then he went to see the suspected truck and later New Delhi where a meeting was held in RAW HQ. Prominent government officers, OP Sharma and Dr. Ayush Gupta, who was Varun's mentor and in charge of Sri Lankan operation,  present there. 

it was told that the reserves came from Kathmandu where they were shifted into the truck by two Nepali men who had been arrested and were in Nepal. it was decided that a team of three will be sent there to interrogate them and also the reserve found will be taken to a safe place and studied. PM wanted RAW to tackle the issue on its own for now and keep him updated. The meeting lasted for five hours 

After the meeting concluded Gupta came to Varun and asked him to come aside for few minutes for an important discussion about the Sri Lankan election

"Varun I wanted to tell you than Rajan is no more. he was found dead in his room today morning, a teenage girl was also there. it seems like it was a honey trap I have ordered an investigation but I want you to stay out of the matter now."

"oh god! that is not possible! Rajan could not have been deceived by a mere honey trap. he was far too experienced"

"but that the reality my boy!"

"also we was telling me that he found few irregularities in rajanswami's son in law's account" 

"He told me about it. it is also being investigated. I have to leave for a very urgent matter, now Varun if you would please excuse me I will update you with all the information about the Sri Lankan operation", after saying this Ayush Gupta left the office. 

Varun went back to his home and decided to have a good sleep after months of being on field but his sleep was disturbed around 2:00 a.m. by OP Sharma's call. He decided to pick it up

"Varun I have an important matter for you," OP Sharma said

"What is it, sir?" Varun ask

"The team to leave for Nepal has been finalized and your name is on it you'll have to leave at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow you will get all your detail once you reach Nepal your task is to investigate the to Nepalese who have been arrested and interrogative them."

Varun decided to sleep for the next 5 hours so that he would be fresh what is next mission

It was 10 a.m. and Varun was in his flight with his other teammates one of them was Varun old friend from the academy Armaan Kaushik who was an interrogation specialist The other was Bahadur Singh whose father was Nepali and he had been working with RAW for more than 10 years. He preferred to stay quiet while the two friends discussed how life has changed since they have been recruited. Armaan was now engaged and about to get married next month  "Want to order something?"
